This diversion tunnel was necessary while constructing and completing the last block of Malaprabha masonry dam. The tunnel is constructed on left high bank, 2.5 M in height, 515 M long, having horse shoe shape.
Tunnel work was started from both ends and completed in 100 days. In an average 2 pulls per day were done by full face method. Maximum of 8 pulls per day were achieved, with length of each pull 3 M. The peak progress was 200M in a month. Tunnel had two bends. Precise surveys and blasting were executed in such a way that both side tunneling met practically in the centre with a clinical precision.
Besides these projects, we had completed many more such projects in the past.
